It has been close to six months since I started my blog- Gamachu.com. Initially, it started just as a hobby. I enjoyed travelling, adventures, meeting new people, leaving a piece of me behind and just be happy wherever I went. Because of that, I named it ‘Gamachu’ meaning ‘Happiness’ in my native language. However, I wasn’t a full time traveler because of many other responsibilities but I made the best out of each moment I went somewhere. I kept it as simple as possible for everyone to understand and feel as if they were there with me.
Most of the time, I shared some important life lessons that I learnt from the places I went and also the people I came across. That’s how I managed to keep Gamachu.com authentic. I feel a travel blog has a lot more than the hotel reviews, places to visit etc. To me, it’s the person you are with, it’s the people you meet, it’s how they made you feel, the laughter, the moments and all.
My objective therefore, was to find and spread happiness in the little things. It wasn’t meant to be perfect because each day has been a learning process but it served the intended purpose.
I’ve had my moments when I felt self-doubt. Like I’m not good enough doing this but I kept on encouraging myself to keep on going and above all to be consistent. My support system also played the biggest role in keeping me going. The many emails, direct messages, the comments and all the encouragement really went a long way. It always made me feel someone is appreciating me, someone is looking up to me and I should never disappoint them.
Here we are today, gamachu.com has been nominated in this year’s BAKE AWARDS (Bloggers Association of Kenya) I’m uber excited and grateful for this. Regardless of the outcome, I’m forever grateful that my blog has been recognized in its sixth month of existence. That’s really a big deal to me.
Thank you all so much for the support. I appreciate you.
