When I was called upon by Bigfoot Adventures to attend the March edition of Photography in the wild, I was super excited. It’s normally done every month at Nairobi national park and Maasai Mara. The main objective is to create awareness about conservation through photography, networking of people with the same interest and above all have some great fun in the wild. The first phase took part on 24th March at Nairobi National Park while the next phase will take place on 30th March in Maasai Mara.
We started the day quite early around 5:30am as it’s normally the perfect time for a game drive if not later in the evening. By 6am, the sun was rising perfectly and how awesome was the feeling soaking in it and capturing the perfect shots.
After that, we proceeded to explore the park for some amazing time out in the wild. Our tour guide, Saidi, from Bigfoot adventures was the most awesome being. Very patient and accommodative. ‘ Saidi, please stop for a few minutes, haven’t got a perfect sunrise capture, Saidi, move ahead a bit for us to get that nice background.’ Saidi this, Saidi that. But he was really patient with everyone of us and made the trip worthwhile. Same to Anto, who was behind the lens. Capturing every moment. Big up to you guys. You were amazing.
We had over 5 hours of a really awesome game drive. The beautiful landscape, talk of the rich wildlife of our country and the Nairobi skyline which was quite visible from the park provided a spectacular view. Oh! What a sight! Simply amazing.
We had a break of about 30 minutes to get some photography lessons from Mr. Macharia who is a Wildlife photographer. He gave us some amazing tips on how to take pictures, how to take care of your camera, how to store your pictures for future use and many more. He was also super amazing. Thank you Sir, we learnt some helpful tips that will greatly help everyone who was there.
At lunch time, we were hosted at KWS Club House for the yummiest meal and some cold drinks. The food was really awesome, justice to us after the long game drive since early morning and we all dived in, ate and drank to our satisfaction.
It was really the most thrilling adventure. I loved every bit of it.
Thank you to Bigfoot Adventures, Versatile adventures, KWS and the whole team for the most thrilling and memorable adventure in the wild. Cheers to the awesome people that i met. You were all super amazing!
The next stop is at Mara. SEE YOU.
