So, the other day I was just scrolling through my Instagram page when these words really caught my attention.” Wi-Fi, really? Talk to each other!” I just had to click it to see where those words were applicable in this 21st century. Apparently, it was a new restaurant in town called Bao Box Café. They didn’t have many images on their Instagram page but somehow I was convinced this was a really cool place.
We decided to check it out with some of my friends over the weekend and it was more than what we expected. Damn! Located along Westlands road, 8th floor of Pramukh Towers, it was also easily accessible.First thing first, there’s no Wi-Fi. People have to talk to each other, and that made me fall in love with the place more. Honestly, I’ve never seen a restaurant that doesn’t put up Wi-Fi intentionally, unless otherwise. But here, they did so to make people interact with one another and that was the greatest idea of all time.
The interior decors were also perfectly done. The seats and tables were made out of timber in form of a box, hence the name bao box. All the cushions were covered with African prints and you damn well know how I feel about African fabrics. The colorful flower arrangements and the back view of Villa Rosa Kempinski gave the place a stunning view. And oh well! I also got something for beautiful views and most definitely it was my kind of place anytime. Also, the counter was decorated with some beautiful wine bottles and super hilarious writings on the wall
Instead of Wi-Fi, this place has variety of interactive games. With only 1000Kshs, you get to play unlimited number of games. These games are so interactive that people’s talk and laughter is the only thing that fills the air, instead of silence that is caused by Wi-Fi. The place is just super lively especially when you are two or more people.
The variety of cocktails and fresh juices served were also tasty and yet quite affordable. You can get something to drink from as low as 150Kshs. And yo! Isn’t that really cool? Just sipping on something while enjoying the beautiful view, great interactions and conversations with soft music playing in the background. Nothing beats that.
The food menu also had a long list of different delicacies to choose from. What I really loved was their 3 dip fries, raw sauce! And the burger, it tasted heavenly.
Whenever it got cold, the heater and some warm Maasai shukas were ready for you.
The only thing that needed a bit of improvement was the washroom space as it was kinda squeezed, otherwise everything else was in check and I’d go back to Bao Box any day.
I dedicate bao box to all the Wi-Fi addicts, the ones that don’t have a social life.
All those who think life only revolves around their phone. Take a break, look around, interact, laugh, play, and just live a little!
Thank you for stopping by:)
