Hello there beautiful people. Look who’s back! It has been a while, but you know it’s always good to pull back and reorganize yourself once in a while. I’m back, bigger, better and happier to share all things travel and adventures.
This blog is a bit different from what you’re used to but let’s dive in and make it fuuuuuuun! So, let’s talk Travel and Fashion. Over the months, I’ve been getting several emails and dm’s from people asking where I get my outfits from, who dresses me and all. So, I thought it’s high time I shared my outfit details and how to just slaaaaaaaay even on your vacations and adventures.
I love fashion just as much as I love travelling, so over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing how to maintain that sense of fashion within different environment. And let’s start off with the BEACH! Well, I just had to start off with that because it’s my favorite place and I really enjoy packing whenever I plan a trip to the beach.
So, here are my must haves,
God! I can never get enough of these beautiful, authentic, African prints. From the fabrics to the beads, I’m a sucker. That’s why wherever I go, most people ask if I’m a Maasai. Well, I’m not, it’s just the love. So, normally i get colorful prints from Nairobi textile in town, then design some few pieces that I want to create out of it and take it to my tailor (you can leave a comment if you need his contact) and boom! I have my unique and super beautiful outfits. I love the bold colors and it’s authenticity. For the beads, i regularly visit maasai market in town on Saturdays.
Whenever I’m at the beach, I love wrapping my hair because of the moisture and the windy environment. At the same time, head wraps are the in thing and quite fashionable If done well (here, YouTube tutorials are bae). I get them randomly in town or wherever with as low as thirty shillings. My preference is always a colorful one to match the ocean and beachy beachy environment.
I rarely buy a ready-made short, because chances are it doesn’t fit perfectly. This is where I create my own taste from a really colorful fabric or an African print. You really need a pair or so at the beach when doing some activities like skiing, boat rides and all. It’s much more comfortable than a dress.
For maxi skirts, I always have to create my own because I’m quite tall and the lengths are a turn off. I use different prints and colorful fabrics to design my own. I put on maxi skirts on a chilled out day away from any activities. Where I just sit and sip on drinks, relaxing.
Well, sundresses just make you look like a little, beautiful princess. I’ve never created my own dresses. I get them ready made from a guy who supplies to me. It goes for 300-700 shillings. (in case you need the contact, just comment below) They are super unique and colorful.
Swimwear and Cover ups
You must at least have 2-3 bikini/ swim wear. Personally, if I’m wearing a colorful bikini, I prefer a bit ‘dull’ cover up and vice versa. But all in all, swim wears are important, either for swimming or just chilling along the beach or by the pool. ( @forevertrendy on Instagram) has the trendiest swim wears and cover ups. Check them out.
…and of course, Sunglasses
Anytime you’re visiting the beach, a pair of sunglasses is a must have. I always get mine from (@forevertrendy22). Quite something!
At the end of the day, my style is simple, unique and beautiful. So, that’s how I maintain my sense of fashion even when on my vacation.
